Golf in Cyprus
Cyprus has a great climate for winter golfers, warm sunny days and not too much rain make November to March popular. From late spring, however, it can get very warm during the heat of the day and it’s better to book an early tee. September and October are a little cooler providing almost perfect conditions for golf holidays in Cyprus.
Golf is a new and budding pastime in North Cyprus, the Korinium Golf Course and Country Club at Esentepe is the first 18 hole course. The course is about 7000 metres long and built to a very high standard, with water hazards and bunkers and the most spectacular views. Two reservoirs were built in order to keep the greens in good condition.

The driving range has 30 bays and there are three extra holes for those who would like the odd lesson. Club hire is available and if you prefer not to walk take a golf cart too.
The 19th hole is just right for that refreshing drink after your round and you may enjoy lunch or an evening meal in the restaurant with its wonderful views of both sea and mountains.
Riverside has negotiated excellent green fees, and a call from reception means everything is organised.
If you prefer something less demanding then try the 70 par Cengiz Topel Golf Course, near Guzelyurt. This course about 5000 metres long and built on the coast with two nine hole loops. The course is suitable for the novice but the seaside holes can offer a challenge to the more experienced. Some putting surfaces are a mixture of sand and oil making them brown and not green, but a good surface even so.
Golf shoes must be worn on both courses and no jeans or t-shirts please. |
